Let’s quickly recap on all the awesome things that have been happening in the Valkyrie community in February…

We Are Turning TWO!

OH. MY. GOSH. It’s been two years already and we’re so grateful for all our members (turned friends) who have helped build this community into what it is! SO we’re going to celebrate, Valkyrie styles! Before you ask, yes, there is a theme and yes, you have to dress up.

In fact, there’s prizes to be won for the best dressed! The Theme this is – “YOUR MATE…”

Yes, that’s right, as it’s our TWO year anniversary this years theme requires two people! Grab ya mate and dress up in your best couple themed costume! There will be a BBQ with some sangas but feel free to bring any extras that you’d like to share (vegan options etc.).

Beers will be supplied! Bring any extra esky’s and drinks if you’re not into beer! Partners welcome also!! We will most likely be kicking on after the gym! Hope to see you all there Fam XOXOXO

Performance standards

What are you training for?

The old saying goes, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road willget you there.” Training is no different. If you lack a specific goal, the time you spend training may easily become a collection of random acts.

The StrongFirst Tactical Strength Challenge is a goal worthy of your efforts.

The three exercises that make up the Tactical Strength Challenge are:

  • A max powerlifting deadlift (three attempts)
  • Pull ups for max reps (palms forward, no kipping, chin must clear the bar) or a flexed arm hang (in the Novice Women’s category)
  • Kettlebell snatches for max reps in a 5:00 time period (unlimited hand switches and different weights for different competitor categories)

Preparing requires your focus on different types of strength and endurance – as demanded by real life’s challenges.

Valkyrie will be hosting this years TSC and we are stoked! The event kicks off 4th of May and sign-up cut off is on the 22nd of March. I urge ALL of you to participate in this event as we will be focusing our programming around these few lifts leading up to the challenge.

New Timetable & Classes

This year we are welcoming change with a few new additions to the timetable! PRO CLASS will be taking the back seat as we focus on building up our newer members and our community in our new FUNDAMENTALS and BELLS & BEERS classes! Here’s a few details on what to expect in these new classes.

Fundamentals: Our new fundamentals class is exactly how it sounds with an hour devoted to beginners with lower skill level workouts. This class is designed to level up any members who are struggling to find their mojo! if you are a pro, come and polish up your skills!

Bells & Beers: This is class is will only run on the Friday afternoon and is designed to bring our family together after a long training week, much like our Kettlebells & Coffee Saturday morning workouts. Train at your own pace, learn a few new things, and stay for the reward. House beers will be available thanks to Philter Brewing (and Fox)!

New times & classes are live now but will commence on the 4th March.

Make sure to re-check the class schedule ahead of time!

StrongFirst Kettlebell Course (30th March 2019)

We believe that strength has a greater purpose, and the Kettlebell can be the tool to help you build that strength. But what is in your way? How can you move forward to accomplish your goals?

You may be a stay at home mom or dad, or a busy executive. You may be a first responder, a member of the military or a police officer. You may be pursuing the Simple and Sinister standards, or you are a busy trainer looking for a new tool for your fitness and to use with your students.

Whomever you are, you have likely tried to “get fit” and been frustrated. Running and what you “used to do” just doesn’t seem to be cutting it. And now you have a cannonball with a handle staring up at you… The StrongFirst Kettlebell Course is designed for you.

We have identified the fundamentals of kettlebell training and built this Course around them. Students will be taught essential skills, techniques, and principles by a small group of SFG Instructors handpicked for their ability to teach.

Students will come away from the Course being able to safely and effectively train with a kettlebell on their own—the StrongFirst way.The StrongFirst Kettlebell Course is ideal for newcomers to the kettlebell and also those who have been training but want to refine and perfect their technique.

In other words, this Course provides a valuable education for people of all levels who want to optimize their training.
